Saudi Arabia – National Transformation Program supports health investment

The Director-General of Makkah Health Affairs Dr. Mustafa Baljon said that the National Transformation Program which will start soon will represent a turning point in health sector investments, indicating that it will support the private sector and will encourage it to provide services to citizens where the role of the ministry of health will only be regulatory.
This was said during the meeting between the Committee of Health and Medicine at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Makkah and Dr. Mustafa Baljon the Director-General of Makkah Health Affairs in the presence of health sector investors in the region. The hurdles and challenges facing health sector investors were also discussed.
Dr. Baljon clarified that most of the complaints and problems facing investors are related to the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, indicating that 15 percent of Saudis have health insurance because they work in the private sector noting that there is a problem for some of them because they sometimes receive treatment in government hospitals although they have paid health insurance.
