The Saudi health ministry said that it did not set a launching date for the implementation of health insurance on citizens. It also denied that it chose year 2020 for such a launching date.
The Saudi “Okaz” newspaper quoted an official from the ministry of health who said that there are 3 parties representing the ministry of health, the Saudi Health Council, and the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance which are currently studying the health insurance of citizens from all perspectives.
He mentioned that the decision on whether to launch it or not will not be taken unless all the procedures that guarantee its success are followed.
The government committee studying the health insurance of citizens said it finalized its study by choosing the “social health insurance” model applied in numerous countries.
