The General Secretariat of the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance denied that a single family is not allowed to be insured more than one insurance company or that it will prevent the holder of two insurance policies from travel.
The secretariat confirmed that it did not issue any new instructions and that there are no link whatsoever with the ban on travel as reported by the “Riyadh” newspaper.
The official spokesperson of the council Mr. Yasser Al Maarik said that health insurance companies are aware about the importance of issuing a single insurance policy covering the employee and the members of his family for many reasons. The dependent’s right for health insurance derives from his beneficiary status. Health insurance of the dependent starts and ends according to the health insurance of the breadwinner which implies that the “bread winner” and the dependent will be covered by the same insurance policy.
