Saudi Arabia – 7 challenges face health insurance

Mr. Yasser Al-Maarik, the Public Relations and Media manager at the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance confirmed that the council is currently studying the issue of the health insurance of citizens in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Saudi Health Council. The implementation of health insurance of citizens cannot be implemented unless the requirements for its success are guaranteed in order for the citizen to obtain a quality health service that fulfills his needs and expectations.
Mr. Al-Maarik revealed that 7 challenges should be overcome in order to implement health insurance in Saudi Arabia namely the privatization of government hospitals, raising the quality of health service, improving health service distribution in general and reference hospitals in particular, developing technical infrastructure, health electronic application, in addition to meeting the continuous cost of health services including the work force and health equipment.
