Qatar – Demands of hospitals in new health insurance system

A number of officials of private hospitals who are involved with the health insurance system, which will be announced next June asked for the review of the previous experience so that to avoid the mistakes of the “Seha” experience which have been interrupted on the 1st of last January. They confirmed that the presence of multiple companies to serve the citizens instead of exclusively one company would boost competition and improve the services offered to the citizen.
The hospital officials told “Al Raya” that tenders will be offered to companies during the next few days given that the new system will be implemented starting from June. They asked for a central system which will govern all the services offered to citizens, indicating that the absence of a central system in the past opened the door for the abuse of insurance resources where many persons repeated the medical tests at more than one hospital and during close periods without excuses not to mention the abuse at medical facilities such as unnecessary tests and medicines which were costly to the treasury of the government.
