Insurance companies raised the price of health insurance coverage for domestic workers for a second time in less than one year. The average insurance price for domestic workers who are single was thus raised to SAR 850 compared to an amount not exceeding SAR 650 previously.
Mr. Yahya Al-Maqbool, head of the recruitment committee at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry clarified that evaluated prices are set by insurance companies, indicating that that there was a significant trend toward insuring domestic workers in the past years after insurers started marketing such insurance policies. This is because some families start by offering medical tests and finalizing administrative procedures related to domestic workers and then seek insurance to cover the financial costs that could be faced in case of sickness or medical problems during the period of service, which is usually two years on average.
