Mr Abdel Raouf Kotb who is Chairman of the Insurance Federation of Egypt confirmed that the partnership between the government and private insurance companies is a huge project that should be considered by officials indicating that the comprehensive health insurance program for citizens is an essential component of national Egyptian security.
Mr. Kotb said in statements to the “Veto Gate” that the government failed to provide on its own an insurance coverage for all Egyptians during the past years due to infrastructure shortages such as the lack of hospitals and medical centers which can provide quality services noting that the government is expected to provide services to 5 times the current number of beneficiaries.
He added that a partnership between the government and the private sector represented by insurers operating in the Egyptian market will allow to take advantage of the database owned by these companies in addition to the expertise needed to provide excellent health services to citizens, confirming that the private insurance sector is fully ready to cooperate with the ministries of health and finance in order to help this national project succeed with the best resources available.
