Informed sources at insurance companies told “Al Arab newspaper” that the health benefits offered to citizens will become more comprehensive after the implementation of the new health insurance system. They noted that the covered persons will take advantage from a large package of benefits that was not previously available under the “Seha” system.
The sources said a new package of benefits to be offered to the insured is being studied including health insurance facilities at clinics and hospitals outside the country, easing service access, adding benefits and specializations to health insurance which were not available under “Seha”, and compelling hospitals to provide treatment to the patients who are covered by the health insurance system according to their capacity.
A number of experts in the health field look favorably at the cancellation of “Seha” in order to overcome the obstacle related to insurance and to eliminate the delay in providing treatment thereby opening up a new phase in health insurance which will be transparent.
