The Council of Cooperative Health Insurance renewed its warning to insurance companies which delay hospitalization treatment approvals for the insured. The Council set the maximum period to accept or reject admission applications to 60 minutes. According to the Council in case no reply is made within 1 hour, automatic approval will be granted, which means that insurance companies will have to bear the cost of medical treatment. The delay fines will reach 5 thousand Riyals for every insured and his family.
A source of the “Cooperative Health Insurance Council” emphasized the duty of insurance companies to answer hospitalization requests within 60 minutes. He confirmed in statements made to “Al Sharq” the right of the insured to file an immediate complaint to the council through its electronic portal where he can specify the name of the company and its geographical location. The council relies in its procedures on paragraph “B” of the fifth article of the health insurance law. The article stipulates that cooperative health insurance through insurance companies will settle health treatment of the insured and their families.
