The costs of health insurance led some small and mid-sized companies to pressure employees suffering from chronic cases to limit their use of health insurance cards or stopping altogether the use of such cards in order to decrease expenses.
Officials of the sector said that insurance companies take into consideration chronic diseases when pricing policies, offer coverage and pricing according to the application submitted by the employer. Therefore, they are not responsible for the behavior of their corporate customers.
The Chief Executive United Gulf Insurance Brokers Mr. Saeed Ahmed Al. Muhairi said that insurance companies take into consideration chronic cases when they insure the employees of companies. So they price the insurance contract according to the available data. Consequently insurers do not face problems when employees of insured companies use their health cards and insurers will fully settle the cost of treatment and medicines related to chronic cases.
