In order to develop a future vision for the health insurance sector, the Capital Markets Authority organized at the diplomatic club in Muscat a debate under the title “health insurance – an economic necessity and a social need”.
The seminar aims at studying the positive repercussions of the “health insurance” concept and extending this service to expatriates and citizens, especially as far as the quality of health services in Sultanate is concerned. It also examined the challenges facing this concept and tackles the legislative and technical requirements in order to organize this sector and protect the rights of policyholders. It also aims at guaranteeing the soundness of the parties concerned by health services such as insurance companies and health organizations and the ways to achieve coordination with the supervisory authorities on this aspect.
The health insurance sector witnesses a marked growth in the Sultanate, so this sector grew in the past four years by an average growth of approximately 37% and health insurance premiums are expected to reach OR 107 million by the end of the current year.
