Dr. Ali Wazani president of the Jordan Insurance Federation called for the independence of the insurance regulatory and supervisory authorities. He also said that insurance regulators should be given the prerogatives and qualifications in order to fulfill their roles without the intervention of other governmental parties.
Dr. Wazani made a speech during the seminar organized by the Jordan Insurance Federation in collaboration with the General Arab Insurance Federation on “Credit rating and Enterprise Risk Management” which is the first such Arab seminar specialized in the rating of insurance and reinsurance companies. He confirmed that insurance supervisory and regulatory authorities should be able control the local market, and follow the latest regulatory debates occurring in the world. Therefore, rating agencies should be sufficiently regulated in order to assess the credit ratings issued in the concerned market.
