Egypt – Insurance sector expects new laws in parliament

The insurance sector expects that the new session of the parliament will endorse 3 draft laws regulating operations in the Egyptian market as well the performance on the commercial and social levels.
The list of draft laws includes the draft insurance law, the unified insurances law in addition to the comprehensive social health insurance law.
The Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority finalized the new insurance draft law which includes 4 new chapters on Takaful insurance, micro-insurance, health insurance, and the electronic distribution of insurance products.
Mr. Sherif Samy the chairman of Egyptian Financial Supervisory. Authority (EFSA) expects the new law to contribute to streamlining the Takaful insurance in the Egyptian market, developing health insurance, and support micro-insurance which targets the largest category of the population.
