Egypt – Life insurance premiums increased by 37%

Mr. Sherif Samy the chairman of Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority said that personal insurance lines “life” including new and in-force business this year reached EGP 8.5 billion until the month of September 2015 compared to EGP 6.2 billion during the same period in 2014 which is a 36.7% increase.
He added that new and renewal business in property insurance posted a modest increase of 1.5% during the same period and achieved EGP 4.6 billion compared to EGP 4.5 billion in the same period of year 2014.
The chairman of the authority said that property insurance had the largest share until the end of September 2015 with 27.7%, followed by health insurance at 16.4%, fire insurance at 16.3% and compulsory motor at 11.2%.
