Jordan – Total insurance premiums increase by 12%

The preliminary official statistics issued by the Insurance Department of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply showed that total insurance premiums in Jordan increased by (12%) until the end of the month of February 2015 reaching JOD (107) million compared to JOD (95.5) million until the same period of year 2014.
The statistics showed general insurance premiums increased by (9.9%) reaching JOD (93.1) million against JOD (84.7) million until the same period of last year, whereas total life insurance premiums reached JOD (13.9) million until the end of the month of February 2015 against JOD (10.8) million until the end of the same period of last year with a growth rate of (28.5%).
Moreover, total insurance claims paid decreased by (0.4%) reaching JOD (52.3) million against JOD (52.5) million until the end of the same period in year 2014, where total life insurance claims decreased by (20.3%) reaching JOD (3.4) million against JOD (4.3) million in the same period of last year, whereas total motor insurance premiums paid increased by (1.6%) and total medical insurance claims paid increased by (11.2%).
