Saudi Arabia – Health insurance on visitors soon

The Council of Cooperative Health Insurance will start implementing starting from the first quarter of next month (December 2015) the compulsory health insurance law on visitors of which the number reaches approximately 1.6 million visitors annually with the exception of Mecca pilgrims, diplomats, members of international associations, and state visitors to the Kingdom. Therefore, the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance licensed seven cooperative companies to sell such policies electronically in order to apply health insurance on visitors.
This in accordance with the law no 180 dated 2/5/1435H which extends cooperative health insurance for all visa applicants to the Kingdom.
Previously the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance adopted a model health insurance policy for the visitors’ category with a maximum health cover of SAR 100,000.
