UAE – Higher fees on comprehensive motor insurance

Insurance companies are imposing additional fees and sometimes without justification in order to provide comprehensive insurance on vehicles which have been used for mor than five years.
Mr. Ibrahim Al Zaabi, the director general of the UAE Insurance Authority mentioned to “Al Roeya” that policyholders and other stakeholders can file a complaint to the Authority which will be studied. Moreover, any remarks on the two draft uniform policies related to theft, own damage and liability can be taken into consideration by the Insurance Authority.
Al Zaabi confirmed that the Insurance Authority is currently working on the improvement of the two uniform motor policies indicating that insurance customers can submit their opinions and suggestions concerning the two available policies on the website of the Authority.
On the other hand, insurance companies’ motor customers pleaded for the abolition of the new additional fees on comprehensive insurance which charged on vehicles which have been used for more than five years.
