Mr. Mohammed Bin Salman Al-Hussein, the Secretary-General of the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance revealed to “Al Eqtisadiah” that nine companies are competing to offer the electronic system that will process the electronic transactions of health insurance between the private and public entities. The council aims to achieve “instantaneous information” through this system i.e. the information will be immediately available instead of every period of time.
Concerning the date of completion of the project and the expected implementation, Mr. Al Hussein said that by the end of the current year the project will be assigned to one of the competing companies that will win the tender. Afterwards the electronic linking will take an expected period of 16 months.
This long expected period is due to the large territory in Saudi Arabia and its health system which includes medical centers, public and private hospitals, insurance companies that will all be connected electronically.
