The Director-General of Own Resources at the Ministry of Health Mr. 'Eqab bin 'Abboud Al-Qahtani requested a system whereby the insurance companies are compelled to settle the treatment invoices of citizens inside the hospitals of the ministry, as far as they are concerned, given that there is a number of citizens who refuse to reveal that they are privately insured. He indicated that the number of insured Saudis inside the Kingdom reached approximately five millions and this achieves huge savings for concerned companies.
This was tackled in a training session and workshop held under the title (Applications of Cooperative Health Insurance) in the presence of 25 participants of the “Own Resources” members across the Kingdom, indicating that the issue effectively necessitate treatments through a program (fee for treatment service) noting that the citizen in case of treatment at the Ministry of Health through insurance coverage will not bear any participation in the costs as compared to residents.
