UAE – Compelling insurers to cover hospitalization claims

The ministry of health compelled insurance companies to cover the cost of all emergency cases according to the contracts they signed with policyholders, due to the fact that the ministry is accepting all kinds and all categories of emergency cases of insurance contracts.
Dr. Awad Al Ketbi, the assistant undersecretary for support services (MoH) told “Al Roeya” that the ministry agreed with a specialized claim administration company working all the time at the Qassimi hospital – Sharjah and Al Baraha Hospital in Dubai indicating that the company represents the ministry of health and will handle insurance claims and emergency cases in addition to training the staff of the ministry.
He confirmed that the claims administration will be present in all the hospitals of the Ministry of Health during the next three months, clarifying that appointing employees for the 24 hours or during peak hours will be related to the number emergency and non-emergency cases and their situations.
