Insurance sector experts stated that the health insurance policy has decreased the amount of widespread manipulation that was present before its issuance noting that foreign workers were the ones most affected by the manipulation that would occur between insurance companies and work facilities.
They also mentioned that workers are unaware of their rights towards health insurance companies who take advantage of this by not providing foreign beneficiaries with the insurance services they are entitled to receive.
Mr. Abdul Aziz Al Saud, a member of the National Insurance Committee, told “Al-Eqtisadiyah” that the insurance sector has come a long way in limiting manipulation through the issuance of the health insurance policy. He also noted that any insured person has certain terms and conditions and coverage specifics through which he can hold an insurer accountable in case of a breach of the policy. He added that “if an insurer fails to provide adequate health insurance services to a client or if a manipulation occurs between the worker’s employer and the insurance company, then according to the policy, insurers are required to provide the beneficiary with all he’s entitled to regardless of any manipulation that has occurred”. He additionally said that if an insured lodges a complaint against an insurance company that commits any acts of manipulation then the committee that settles disputes in the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance could make a decision that preserves the rights of all parties involved.
