There have been debates and conflicts about the report issued by the economic committee of the Supreme council for Planning and Development. The council of ministers charged many government entities to study the possibility of removing health insurance of the expatriates and stop their treatments in governmental hospitals and medical centers.
Experts confirmed to “Al Shahed” that is not feasible to apply this decision practically due to a range of technical issues such as the difficulty of the private medical sector could face in absorbing the huge number of expatriates in addition to other administrative and moral considerations. Moreover, some expect that this proposal will not be implemented and that medical fees will be imposed instead on residents and that current health insurance prices could also be possibly increased.
