The Ministry of Health in the UAE decided that insurance companies and other insuring entities should bear the fees of health care services of emergency cases that are offered by the ministry. This concerns the emergency departments of hospitals and medical centers that are owned by the ministry in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras El Khaimah, and Fujairah.
His Excellency Mr. Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, the minister of health issued a decision of which “al ittihad” received a copy which stipulates that for cases in which persons have a health insurance policy, the insurance company “the insurer” will settle their emergency and costs offered by Emergency departments in the severe medical cases which necessitate immediate treatment. Usually treatment is offered within 24 hours to avoid complications which could threaten the life of the beneficiary.
